Manisha Koirala as a sex worker in her next bollywood movie

In spite having a marital life, Manisha Koriala is busy and on her toes with various projects in Bollywood and south as well.

While audience is waiting to see her in Dhanush starrer ‘Mappillai’, the actress has signed in for Deepti Naval's forthcoming Hindi project. Titled 'Do Paise Ki Dhoop Char Aane Ki Baarish', Manisha features here as a sex worker and the story is said to be inspired from a real-life one.

According to sources, Manisha plays Juhi, who also is a mother of a handicapped son. One night, she happens to come across a struggling gay lyricist. Soon an emotional bond binds the three together.

Manisha was said to be quite excited to hear that her character had been inspired by a real sex worker whose story Deepti had heard through a friend. However, it was a challenge to portray Manisha as an ordinary woman. For the director wanted to show a sari-clad sex worker and not a mini-skirt clad one someone who is a bit neglected. “She wears dark red lipstick, keeps her hair open and wears dark and bright colours like red, maroon and purple. She had to look like a mother and struggler," added the sources about Koirala’s look in the film.

Currently Manisha is waiting for the release of her another Hindi film ‘I Am’. Directed by Onir, ‘I Am’ comprises of four different short stories – where in one of them the ‘Mudalvan’ famed beauty plays a Kashmiri woman. Besides, Manisha recently made her screen debut in a Malayalam movie.  Looks like Ms. MK is back to the filmy ground in full form….

Coping with life as a wife in Kathmandu has been the most challenging role of Manisha Koirala's career. Then on top of it there are all these rumours of trouble in the marital paradise. According to close friends Manisha is doing her best to work things out with her husband Samrat. The problem, say friends, is the joint family. Manisha is trying hard to blend into Samrat's family.

Says a source, "While it's been easy for Manisha to adjust being a wife, blending into her husband's family has been far more difficult. But she's trying. Manisha desperately wants to make the marriage work."

To make the hours seem less stretched-out in the soporific town of Kathmandu Manisha has taken to painting. Now just months after her marriage, Manisha has become a voracious painter. She spends a major part of the day at the anvil.

Says Manisha, "It all started as just another form of self-expression. When I liked the feel of the brush against the canvas I decided to get more professional about it."

Manisha got her self a tutor. "Can you believe it? My painting guru is from Maharashtra! So I go all the way from Mumbai to Nepal and get myself a Marathi teacher for painting."

Now Manisha is keenly hooked to painting. "It's more than a hobby now. It's a growing passion. I don't know where it will take me. But then I've always followed my heart." Manisha will soon have her first painting exhibition as soon she is confident of holding her own.

Just back from Goa where she represented her first Malayalam film Electra at the film festival, Manisha is hungering to get back to the limelight. "I guess once an actor always an actor. I got an overwhelming response to Electra in Goa. It's a very different role. I had to play a mother and a woman who has an extra-marital affair. I was advised not to do it. But now I am so happy with the way the film has shaped up."

Now she's persuading the director Shyam Prasad Raddy to remake the same film into Hindi. Back home in Kathmandu Manisha has gifted herself a brand new car. Laughs the actress, "I'm so happy with the way my film has been received in Goa I've gifted myself a yellow Volkswagen Beetel car."

Manisha Koirala turns villain for Mani Ratnam's Ravana

Remember Manisha Koirala? This Nepali actress, whose only claim to fame is her role in Bombay, had simply vanished into oblivion. But the actress is now back. She has bagged a role in Mani Ratnam's Ravana and the actress is currently in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh shooting for this film.

"She has got an important role to play in Ravana. Her act will be a negative as she is playing Ravana's sister. She has joined the whole cast and crew in Madhya Pradesh and she is very happy that finally after so many years she will be seen in a different role," says a source close to the actress.

Manna, as she is affectionately called in the industry, has prepared hard for bagging this role. "She is really preparing for this film. It is a golden opportunity for her to comeback into main stream Bollywood. Mani sir asked her to reduce her weight and she was on a weight losing spree to be able to pull off the role," adds the source.

And it looks like being signed by Mani Ratnam is helping Koirala attract attention of other filmmakers as well. "She is in talks with Rajkumar Santoshi for another project. This will be her second film with him after Lajja," says our source.

Manisha Koirala was last with Kay Kay Menon in Sirf. Her much delayed film Mehbooba with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan also released last year. But both films bombed at the box office.
